CD Premiere at Chicago Film Festival Cancelled
Shortly following the news of the delay of CD's release, I contacted the Chicago Film Office to learn that the opening night premiere will no longer be Collateral Damage. The representative said that there will be another film screened in its place, but they have not yet determined what it will be. They have also not yet determined if they will issue refunds to people (like myself) who have already bought tickets. They are asking people to bear with them until the new film is announced by the end of next week, then if they want a refund, call the ticketing office at 312-425-9400 ext. 107.

Update: the replacement film will be Heist, directed by David Mamet and starring Gene Hackman and Danny DeVito. The film's plotline seems really similar to the recent heist movie The Score. Hardly a worthy replacment.

This is certainly a disappointment to Chicago area Arnold fans who were looking forward to seeing the Oak in town, but it's still understandable that they would do this with the recent events taking place. We can only hope that there will still be a Chicago premiere when the film is released.

Official Press Release from Warner Bros.
ÊBURBANK, CA, September 12, 2001 - In light of yesterday's tragic events and out of respect for the victims and their families, Warner Bros. Pictures has postponed the October 5th release of the political action thriller "Collateral Damage." A new release date for "Collateral Damage" has not yet been scheduled. Warner Bros. Pictures is making an immediate and complete effort to retrieve all outdoor advertising; to pull the website and all in-theater advertising, including trailers and posters; and cancel all radio and television advertising and promotions for this film. On behalf of director Andrew Davis, producers Steven Reuther and David Foster, the film's star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Warner Bros. Pictures, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in Tuesday's terrorist attacks and join the nation in focusing our hope on the continuing rescue efforts. - wbp -

King Conan: Crown of Iron Script Reviewed!

In time, he became king by his own hand. This story shall also be told.... at last!
8.27.01
It's been rumored for a while that John Milius, writer and director of Conan the Barbarian, has been at work on a new script for Conan 3, completing the Conan trilogy as originally intended. Well, these rumors have proved true, as the Ain't It Cool News site has a review posted of the first draft of this script! You can read this review, which includes detailed plot points on the first act of the film as well as some great lines of dialogue, right here. This is definitely the sequel that should've been made rather than Conan the Destroyer, it is much more in the feel of the original Conan both in richness of the story and in bloody battles! AND it even leaves room for another movie, for a true Milius trilogy not including Destroyer. Crom is indeed happy today!
